Are you newly diagnosed with Amyloidosis?
We strongly recommend that you research the disease thoroughly, and either you or your doctor should contact the Westmead Amyloidosis Clinic which was set up in Sydney in 2007, to oversee the treatment of those patients already diagnosed.
We also recommend that you get in touch with one of the overseas specialist Amyloidosis Doctors, such as those at the Amyloidosis clinics, eg. the National Amyloidosis Clinic (NAC UK), or Mayo Clinic Rochester Amyloidosis Clinic (USA), (see more under our Links page) to ensure you are receiving correct and timely treatment.
There are currently no doctors in Australia specializing in Amyloidosis, although we know of several who have some experience treating it.
Please contact us for further information.
We strongly recommend that you download and distribute to any doctor treating you or your patient the Amyloidosis Guidelines. They are free to download here. The Guidelines are currently being reviewed and updated and we will inform you (if you enroll as a member) when the new ones are available.
Free Light Chain and Cardiac Troponin tests are now available in Australia. See our page under Medical Help. Free Light Chain Article.
